Gran Turismo Omologato. Magical words when they adorn the rear of a Ferrari. In the 60s, the name first appeared on the 250 GTO, and in the 80s on the 288 GTO. Two legendary cars, each with its own story, but both originating from the mind of Enzo Ferrari. Racing was the origin of both cars. When Ferrari introduced the 599 GTO in 2010, the main question was: does this Ferrari deserve the GTO designation? For unlike both predecessors, the 599 GTO was not designed for any competitive context: it is typically a street racer. In fact, the 599 GTO is the street-legal version of the 599XX, a kind of rolling laboratory with which Ferrari frequently tested at Fiorano. The GTO weighs nearly a hundred kilograms less than the standard 599 GTB. This has been achieved by making a number of parts from carbon fiber, such as the front splitter, the side skirts and double diffuser at the rear and in the interior (parts of the console, the dashboard, and the seats).
