When Ferrari transformed the 360 Modena into the 360 Spider, it created not simply an open version of the berlinetta, but one of Maranello's great sensory V8 road cars of the early 2000s. Stowing the roof, Road & Track magazine noted, ''enhances the sensation of speed,'' but ''by far the biggest plus is the sound of the engine, angrier now without the barrier of cloth and foam''-a 3.6-liter V8 that ''at large throttle openings flat-out shrieks'' toward its 8,500-rpm redline.

Beneath the skin, the Spider shared the berlinetta's aluminum spaceframe, double-wishbone suspension, Brembo brakes, and naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V8 producing 400 horsepower, its reinforced structure adding only around 130 pounds. Most examples were delivered with Ferrari's paddle-shifted F1 gearbox, leaving the six-speed manual a comparatively small share of production. Among the most sought-after configurations of the model, the gated six-speed Spider represents one of Ferrari's final open, analog V8 road cars, pairing its high-revving engine with the open shift gate that defined the marque's driving experience for generations.

Completed in July 2002, this 360 Spider, chassis number 129578, was finished in the classic combination of Rosso Corsa over Beige leather and specified with the six-speed manual transmission. Its equipment includes a rear Challenge grille, red brake calipers, Scuderia Ferrari fender shields, and a black power top. Inside, Beige leather trims the power-adjustable seats, roll hoops, door cards, and rear wall, while the trademark polished shift knob and open gate anchor the center console.

The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report shows the car was sold new in Illinois in September 2002 and titled in Hinsdale the following month. Having covered approximately 4,000 miles by late 2005, it passed to its second recorded owner in Fort Myers, Florida, where it remained registered for nearly 18 years. Since 2023, CARFAX entries and invoices on file document regular servicing by Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale. Work in August 2023 at 11,481 miles included a rebuilt A/C compressor with a new receiver/dryer, replacement of both fuel pumps, rebuilt hydraulic rams for the convertible top, a Tubi Style exhaust, and four new Continental tires, which remain on the car and are date-coded 2023.

A new convertible top and headliner followed in early 2024. In the autumn of 2024, the dealer performed a major service that included fresh oil, coolant, and brake fluid, and replaced the cam cover gaskets. That November, the dealer found that the top was not stowing properly because of a misadjusted guide pin on the driver's-side clamshell, which had caused damage, and the supplier replaced the top in full at its expense the following month.

Most recently, in October 2025 at 12,749 miles, Miller Motorcars of Greenwich, Connecticut, carried out the six-year service, replacing the timing belts and tensioner, auxiliary belts, spark plugs, and fluids. During the same visit, the original brake hoses, the steering rack (with a rebuilt unit) and tie-rod ends, all four lower ball joints, the stabilizer links, and the front brake pads and rotors were replaced, followed by a four-wheel alignment. The invoice for this work totals more than $40,000. In preparation for the sale, the 360's well-known ''sticky button'' issue, caused by the degradation of the original soft-touch coating, was also remediated.

Acquired by the New York-based consignor earlier this year, chassis 129578 shows fewer than 13,000 original miles at the time of cataloging. The car is accompanied by its tool kit, owner's manuals, battery tender, a fire extinguisher, two keys, and a folder of records including service invoices. It is a spectacular example of the six-speed 360 Spider, freshly serviced and ready to be enjoyed as Ferrari intended, with the top down and the gate in hand.
