Ferrari chose the Paris Motor Show in September 2004 to unveil the successor to its 360 Modena. The F430 kept the aluminum construction introduced with the 360, while Pininfarina refined the body under Frank Stephenson, sharpening its lines and adding round taillights inspired by the Enzo. Ferrari claimed 50 percent more downforce than the 360 for better high-speed stability.
The new 4,308-cc V8 belonged to the F136 engine family. Displacement rose by about 20 percent over the 360's engine, yet the new unit weighed only around nine pounds more. Naturally aspirated and built around a flat-plane crankshaft, it produced 483 horsepower at 8,500 rpm along with 343 lb-ft of torque. Ferrari quoted a sprint to 62 mph in four seconds and a top speed beyond 196 mph.
The F430 also brought two systems from Ferrari's Formula 1 program to the road. The E-Diff electronic differential varied torque between the rear wheels according to steering angle and lateral acceleration. The new Ferrari lapped the famous Fiorano test track three seconds quicker than the 360. On the steering wheel sat the manettino, a rotary switch that let the driver adjust stability control, suspension damping, throttle response, and the differential with a turn of the dial.
Most buyers paired all of this with Ferrari's F1 paddle-shift transmission. The six-speed manual remained on the order sheet, using the same open metal gate Ferrari used on its mid-engine V8 berlinettas since the 308 GTB of 1975.
This F430 Coupe was delivered new to Shelton Sports Cars in Fort Lauderdale with that now highly sought-after gated manual. It was finished in iconic Rosso Corsa with a Beige leather interior. A copy of its original window sticker lists Daytona-style seats with electric adjustment, Scuderia Ferrari fender shields, red brake calipers, and a high-power Hi-Fi system with a subwoofer. Leather also covers the headliner, rear shelf, and door moldings. The car left the factory on Challenge-type wheels and has since been fitted with a set of 430 Scuderia wheels in a dark finish.
Its clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report traces a life spent almost entirely in South Florida. Ferrari Maserati Alfa Romeo of Fort Lauderdale carried out the pre-delivery inspection on 16 June 2005. The Collection in Coral Gables has handled its maintenance since 2009, most recently in July 2026. Today it remains in wonderful condition, showing 10,718 miles at the time of cataloging.
Only a small share of F430s left Maranello with the gated manual, and the model was the last mid-engine V8 Ferrari offered with this now highly sought after and engaging experience. In this car, every upshift means here the feeling and hearing the iconic “click clack” of the shift gate as the V8 climbs toward 8,500 rpm.
