REC Watches Featured
About REC: In 2014 fellow Danes Christian and Jonathan, two childhood friends, decided to merge their two passions for cars and watches and create something unique around these two obsessions. The concept behind REC is simple as there is no made up storytelling behind the brand, rather the storytelling is built directly within the watches as we incorporate components of automotive icons within our watches. The result is automotive watches unlike any other. Adding these small components within the watches creates a natural side effect as every watch truly unique, furthermore each run of watches is naturally limited due to the recycled automotive components. For each line of watches we create a unique design, as we strive to encapsulate all the design references from the particular car and boil them down into a watch design. Our goal is to create something that not only speaks to the enthusiast of the particular icon but also is an interesting watch in itself speaking to a broader spectrum of automotive enthusiasts. About the collaboration: The project began with California-based Gunther Werks posing a hypothetical question: What if Porsche had developed a 993 GT3RS?From the process of creating the 993 GT3RS, Gunther Werks offered us with the opportunity to use carbon fiber from the roof panels of the Exoskeleton and the Chelsea Grey build process. We then granulated and reforged this material with new carbon fiber to create the visible middle section of the 901 GW Exoskeleton and Chelsea case. Developed in close collaboration with Gunther Werks founder and CEO Peter Nam, these ultra-limited edition timepieces have been designed to capture the unique blend of rugged beauty and superlative performance that characterizes all Gunther Werks creations. Discover the full story behind our collaboration with Gunther Werks, narrated by Gunther Werks founder and CEO Peter Nam, experience the craftsmanship that goes behind one and each timepiece and the many hidden design references: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H77YwevFD68 During the restomod process, Gunther Werks strips each vehicle back to its frame before dressing it in their own carbon fiber bodywork. Once this is complete, the car is fitted with a 4.0 L naturally aspirated air-cooled engine, hand-built and expertly tuned by Rothsport Racing to develop over 400 bhp and 330 lb/ft. Gunther Werks provided us with carbon fiber from the roof panels of the Exoskeleton and the Chelsea Grey build process, which we granulated and reforged with new carbon fiber to produce the visible middle section of the 901 GW Exoskeleton and Chelsea case. The 901 GW993 CHELSEA & THE 901 GW993 EXOSKELETON The new limited edition timepieces features a unique six-piece case made from recycled carbon fiber from two iconic Gunther Werks Porsche 993, a Swiss-Made Chronograph Movement and a completely redesigned 901 series dial. Celebrating 75 Years of Formula 1 Through Art – The Unique Vision of Sauro Torreggiani We’re proud to introduce a remarkable new talent to our community, Italian illustrator Sauro Torreggiani, whose work offers a fresh and deeply human perspective on the history of Formula 1. Sauro is not just an artist; he’s a passionate researcher, storyteller, and motorsport enthusiast. Through his self-published illustrated book series, he captures the vibrant evolution of F1 from 1950 to the present day. His mission is clear: to preserve the colour, soul, and humanity of Formula 1, and bring younger generations closer to the sport through compelling visual storytelling. What makes Sauro’s work truly unique is his attention to the unsung heroes of F1. In each of his books, he doesn’t just celebrate the World Champions, he also highlights the most unfortunate or underfunded drivers, those who may never have stood on a podium but raced with the same heart and determination. “Everyone on the track had the same dream — to race fast. That’s the spirit I want to capture.” — Sauro Torreggiani His research is extensive, his illustrations are 100% hand-drawn, and his dedication is unmatched. From liveries and helmets to the tracks and cars themselves, every detail is accurate and filled with meaning. The early issues, dedicated to the 1950s, are especially striking, challenging the myth that early F1 was seen only in black and white. Torreggiani brings these decades to life in full colour, reminding us that Formula 1 has always been a vivid, emotional spectacle. His most recent work covers the 2024 F1 season, and more editions are in the pipeline, spanning the sport’s iconic eras from the 1970s to the 1990s. For fans of motorsport, collectors, and anyone passionate about racing history, Sauro Torreggiani’s illustrated F1 collection is an extraordinary and personal way to relive 75 years of motorsport glory.
